How LS2Y and KLTV Are Helping Fartown Move More

In Fartown, community spirit runs deep — and two local organisations, LS2Y (Local Services 2 You) and KLTV (Kirklees Local TV), are playing a vital role in making sure local voices shape the future of Move More Fartown.

Because both organisations are rooted in the community and trusted by residents, they’re in a unique position to listen to people’s experiences. They hear first-hand about the barriers that make it harder to be active, as well as the opportunities that already exist across the area.

Iain Long, Local Services 2 You said: “We wanted to be involved because we are already rooted in the area – we’ve built strong relationships and we’re on the ground every day in the places people know and use.

“Move More Fartown fits how we like to work: listening properly to residents (especially those who don’t always get heard), building on local strengths, and working alongside community groups and partners to shape what happens next. We want to help people get involved and make sure what’s planned is community-led, inclusive and built to last.”

On 16 March, LS2Y hosted the first community workshop, bringing together local organisations, service providers, and residents. This session helped build a shared understanding of what’s happening locally and where the priorities should be to help more people get active. A second workshop on 16 April will take this further — giving the community the chance to co-design an action plan that will guide the work ahead.

The benefits of being active

KLTV adds another powerful layer of support. By highlighting local stories, events, and achievements, they help amplify community voices and shine a light on what matters to people in Fartown. Their coverage of Move More Fartown not only raises awareness but encourages others to get involved. Seeing familiar faces and places represented builds pride — and that pride inspires action.

Christopher Morgan, Chief Editor, Kirklees Local TV said: “Kirklees Local TV is proud to document the vital work happening across our communities. The Move More initiative is a fantastic example of local action making a real difference to residents’ health and wellbeing.

“By working alongside LS2Y, the Move More team, Community Champions and local residents, we hope to help people make those small changes that will have a big impact on their health and wellbeing.”

Together, LS2Y and KLTV are helping Move More Fartown grow from an initiative into a genuine community movement. Their collaboration shows what’s possible when local organisations work side by side: people feel more connected, more confident, and more motivated to lead active, healthy lives.
