KLTV visited the Chestnut Centre in Sheepridge to see the first Move More Fartown community workshop in action. Aimed at improving health and movement in the Fartown and Leeds Road areas, the session brought together residents, community groups, and local organisations to identify the real-world obstacles preventing people from staying active.
From infrastructure concerns to social barriers, the workshop served as a platform for local voices to drive meaningful change.
A key takeaway from the event is the commitment to resident-led decision-making. Move More Kirklees is currently seeking local individuals to sit on a funding panel.
This panel will have the direct power to decide which proposed improvements and activities will receive financial support, ensuring the community remains in control of its own progress.

Sofie Armitage from Move More Kirklees said: “We are working together to get their communities moving.Everyone needs to be able to contribute and feel heard in the drive towards getting people more active.”
