Moving more in Fartown

Work in Fartown continues to grow, with eight projects now approved through Local Services 2 You (LS2Y), helping local people to move, get active and connect with their community.

Projects are being delivered with Sunrise Project CIC, LS2Y Nurseries, The Lipstick Project, Make Things Happen (MTH FC), Sikh Gurdwara, Box Power ABC, Ghup & Chai and St John the Evangelist Church.

A great example is the work with the Sikh Gurdwara, where volunteers have been supported to gain their Level 1 FA football coaching qualification, enabling them to run weekly sessions for young people.

Three volunteers have also been trained to deliver walking football for men, while equipment is supporting new female badminton and strength sessions. More than 200 people are expected to benefit during the first year.

The focus is on building skills and confidence within local organisations, helping them create opportunities that can continue beyond the initial investment.

Over the summer, LS2Y brought the community together for a Move More Fun Day at Fartown Pavilion, with around 300 people enjoying free sports, crafts and nature activities.

It’s a great example of Move More in action: local people, local organisations and local ideas creating more ways to Move More and Feel Good.
